What I have learned from the Women from the past in technology  such as  Admiral Grace Murray Hopper which is a honor in itself is that with determination, accepting the challenge, even in a male dominated career, you can be successful. She was a pioneer in the field of computer science back in the 1930's when women were predominately housewives,Admiral Hopper was creating history by learning to program and putting together a 500 page manual on how to operate Sequenced Controlled Calculator.

Being in the WAVES(Women Accepted for Voluntary Emergency Service) in Navy, teaching at Vassar,Harvard,it is  noted that she never worked at only one job at a time! pg.1-2.http://www.sdsc.edu/ScienceWomen/hopper.html

During the interview with the First Women in Technology at Evergreen Valley College..she stated as advice to young women who are interested in the field of technology, "to just go for it"! (12/8/2011.EVC)

Now to bring the present to the for front  the work done by  these three dynamic women  Padmasree Warrior-Chief Technology Officer of Cisco- who is very progressive and shares her resources, knowlege with young women  through training. Jan Cuny-who in her speech stated that "we need to broaden computing to women, people of color. She stated that here in the Oakland, CA. that there is not a single AP taught in technology.  My question is so how are going to encourage high school girls to excell in technology when they do not have classes to transfer to colleges and universities? Then there is Lila Ibahim-who graduated from Purdue and continues to return to inspire new women in the field of technology, worked for Intel and took her knowledge, experience  and raised money to build computer labs for children in Lebanon; trained the teachers so they can help these children to be educated  in the advancing field of technology. With her expertise, resourcefulness she has developed digital  systems that are called "remote schools ". She has provided computers and training  for children on a global level in  Kenya, Brazil, Egypt, and Purdue to name  a few of the places she has traveled to share her expertise, to train and educate improvised people in technology so they can  obtain skills that will enhance and improve their lives. The knowledge that I gained from these women and their insurmountable contributions in the field of  technology is that we as educators, students , women, have to continue to be innovative, to meet the challenges in technology and share out knowledge, expertise and  be willing to encourage, teach,motive and mentor young  girls starting with pre-schoolers  up to college in the field of math, science and technology. Only then will  women be able to sit at the table when the decisions are being made about the future in technology such as green jobs, games for girls, games that are gender neutral, medical procedures and  advancements that affect  people!

  Professor Wendy Brashares has been teaching at Evergreen Valley College since 1982. Professor Brashares has taught at Purdue University, Mission College, and in the computer industry. Her main interest is in using alternative instruction to reach nontraditional students including women, reentry adults, disabled students, and ESL students. Her goal is to help students learn relevant information that can be applied on the job or at home. Students should emerge from her courses with a strong background of knowledge applicable to a variety of computer brands and programs. She believes that the process of learning should be stimulating, fun, and useful. Currently, Professor Wendy Brashares is the Computer Technology Instructor at the Evergreen Valley College Learning Center.
